A Date For Mad Mary wins audience award at Gaze film festival / by Keith Jordan

Ardmore Sound posted film, A Date For Mad Mary has been given the audience award at this years Gaze Film Festival.

Running from the 28th of July until the 1st of August, the International LGBT Film Festival took place in the Lighthouse cinema in Smithfeild, Dublin, and featured A Date For Mad Mary as this years secret screening.

Speaking on the films win, the Gaze Festival Programmer said "What an absolute thrill it is to have our Secret Screening A Date for Mad Mary as the Audience Award winner for this year’s festival. The audience howled with laughter from start to finish during the screening, and left with huge smiles on their faces. It is a pleasure to have such a strong and brilliant Irish film in the festival, and to have our audience agree with our choice of Secret Screening is of great reassurance!’

Directed by Darren Thornton (who co-wrote with brother Colin) and produced by Ed Guiney and Juliette Bonass, A Date for Mad Mary follows Mary McArdle’s quest to find a date to a friend’s wedding, following a stint in prison. Determined to prove her right to a plus one for the big day, Mary’s attempts at securing a date lead her into trouble and emotional challenges.

The film was recently named Best Irish Feature at this years Galway Film Fleadh.

A Date for Mad Mary is set for nationwide release on September 2nd.
